Don’t you dare call these “snacks.”
The 13th Annual Cleveland’s Finest Hors D’oeuvre Contest raised $40,000 to benefit Our Lady of the Wayside on February 8, 2006. Our Lady of the Wayside helps individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities to live productive lives thorough professional care and guidance. The money raised will help the non-profit organization to provide services and homes to more than 180 mentally and physically challenged children and adults in 36 homes in 24 communities in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.

Tickets for the event sold-out and nearly 270 guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvre from Cleveland’s finest chefs.
“I came early so I won’t miss anything,” said Ed Flashference a volunteer at Our Lady of the Wayside. “This is the best one so far,” he said of this years contest in comparison to the past three he attended.

This years Finest Hors D’oeuvre Chef Awards went to Chef Vito Carrieri from Corleone’s Ristorante & Bar. The second place to Chef Dominic Cerino from Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante and Chef Zack Bruell from Parallax secured third place.

The 13th Annual Cleveland’s Finest Hors D’oeuvre Contest was presented by American Airlines, Cleveland Magazine, Sammy’s Catering, and WDOK Soft Rock 102.1 and hosted by Nancy Alden and Jim McIntyre from WDOK Soft Rock 102.1. The raffles included an array of items from various gift certificates, cook books, to tickets to shows and Cleveland entertainment. American Airlines offered a pair of tickets and the opportunity for a getaway anywhere in the continental United States, Canada, Bahamas, Bermuda and Mexico. Special guests included Linda and Fred Griffith. Live entertainment was provided by Saborit Latin Soul.
